Historic preservationist and conservator of animals, antiquities

Wade, Sr., is an enthusiastic historic preservationist and conservator of animals, antiquities.  His wife, Cathy offers her warm hospitality and delicious southern cooking to quests. One of her specialties is stickies, a recipe given to her by an elderly South Carolinian. She wanted her old family recipe enjoyed, shared and saved! It’s therefore fitting the farm also began conserving heritage animals and opening to the public during York County’s annual Ag and Art Tour in 2022.

The recent acquisition of a herd of registered Florida Cracker cows, ushered in a new era. The docile breed is known to provide flavorful meat, marketed to chefs under the trademark label, Carolina Criollo beef.

Spanish Koy Goats

a conservation project

As of 2021, Cracker Farms, added a small herd of verified Spanish Koy goats to their pastures. No, they may not grow as quickly as the modern meat goat breeds but as one old time farm stated, “I buried more of my Boer goats every year than I took to market, that’s why I switched to Spanish goats.” Cracker Farms took on these Spanish goats as a conservation project with an eye towards sustainable livestock that might in the future produce marketable meat goats.  Learn more about Spanish goats at: the Spanish Goats Association LLC

Katahdin Sheep

The Fairey’s farm now raises Katahdin sheep.

Young ewe lambs are used to enlarge the farms livestock holdings and meat lambs are sold to customers. When available, select cuts of flavorful Katahdin lamb are also processed and sold at the farm. Contact Cracker Farms for further details.
